How to choose the right kitchen handle?
There are plenty of things to consider when choosing your kitchen handles, including design, style and finish. In terms of design, kitchen pull handles, kitchen doorknobs and kitchen lever handles are your main picks. For your kitchen door, go for either a lever handle or a doorknob and for your kitchen cabinets, you can choose to go for only knobs, only pulls or a mix of both.
This article on Renovation Bay Bee mentions that to choose the right type of handle “It is also important to consider the people who are going to use the handles – are elderly or disabled people or children going to open the cabinet doors? If so, pull handles should be much easier to use than doorknobs.”
Once you’ve picked the right type of hardware, it’s time to think of style. Schoolhouse Living recommends selecting a style that suits your space best. They believe that “hardware with ridges, curved silhouettes, and textured detailing typically work well with traditional or heritage-inspired designs. Modern cabinetry tends to have clean lines and edges with a sleek, minimal profile that is smooth to the touch.” However, there is no rule to follow when choosing the style of your ironmongery, you can either mix different styles together!
Now, think about the finish. You can go for a warm finish, such as brass, rose gold, copper; a cool finish, such as pewter, stainless steel, chrome and nickel; or a neutral finish, such as black. Don’t Cramp My Style published a blog post all about pairing door handle finishing with colourful doors and it works for kitchen cabinets too! She recommends pairing warm finishes with dark colours, pairing cool finishes with light colours and neutral finishes can be paired with any colour.
