El Paso, Texas is a beautiful place to raise a family amongst some of the most important and picturesque deserts of the American South. State Parks
Two of the most famous state parks are in the area of El Paso. This includes Hueco Tanks State Park and Franklin Mountains State Park. If you love the outdoors and want to bring your children to love them as well, then this is the place with endless hiking trails, rock climbing, and camping. It’s an adventurer’s paradise.
Hueco Tank has huge rock basins that have been a source of water for over 8.000 years. The influx of shrimp brought in through these water basins brings predators such as lizards, foxes, and eagles. Nature and animal lovers are those that are drawn to this peaceful region.

If you’re a history buff then you know you’ll be visiting all the museums and local community attractions to learn about the beautiful lands of El Paso. There is Fort Bliss and the Old Ironsides Museum, The El Paso Museum of Art, the Centennial Museum, and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens.
Learn about the army’s history from 1849 with tanks, helicopters, and rockets that were created by America’s armies. The Museum of Art is an accredited museum with over 7,000 pieces with free admission and family curated exhibits for all ages. Then of course you can swing on over to the zoo and aquariums when you’re finished there.
The Centennial Museum was opened in 1936 and was one of the first buildings on the property at the University of El Paso, Texas. The museum is based on the Chihuahuan desert and its ecosystem of plants and animals. The gardens let you view the flora and fauna of the historic desert.
Unique Attractions
There’s always a nice mix of unusual and charming attractions along the open deserts of the midwest. Not just a place for relics but excitement as well. There is the Western Playland Amusement Park that’s located in Northwestern El Paso. It is fun for all ages with plenty of rides and places to eat and relax.
If you’re looking for something a bit more out of the box, check out the Casa de Azucar which is an intricate sculpture that was created in the early 1970s by a retired man for his wife. He whittled for over 25 years slowly chipping away. The finished piece features many religious themes with flowers, leaves, and pineapples over pillars creating a bit of an altar. It’s one of the best gems in the El Paso area.
There are plenty of other attractions in this popular Texas town. With it being so close to Mexico, there is so much culture and diversity within the city and its lands. It’s a beautiful place to live and you’ll enjoy spending weekends with your family at any of these revered locations.
