Believe it or not, but I’m writing this post from the comfort of an apartment in the city centre. I needed a break from my kids from a couple of days and I’m so lucky that my parents are willing to look after them for a little while, so I can recharge my batteries with my husband for a few days. We work so hard and we just need to get away every month or so, so that we can keep going at the rate that we do.
I’ve been to this place three times since the summer and the reason I keep coming back is because I really like the aesthetics of the place. Not to say that my own house is a mess, but I just like being in an environment that seems so well put together and makes me feel like I can really relax. And I definitely can’t find much calm in a home where my kids are always making their presence known.
We found this place via AirBnB and it’s made me realise that I’ve wasted so much money on hotels, while I much prefer going to a place that feels like a home away from home, rather than being in just a room. It has given me food for thought on what I want to do in the future, as I feel like it’s getting harder and harder for me to be able to afford to buy a house (it’s just so expensive) but I’m pretty certain I could get a buy-to-let mortgage on a small apartment. If I did, I would know exactly how to make the exterior look Insta-worthy, but I need to learn how to promote it.
I understand that AirBnB is one method but there’s so many other means to get people to be aware of my listings – especially online. As even online marketing experts ApartSEO.com mention, traditional offline marketing still serves its purpose in helping to promote your apartments too, so I won’t neglect that, but it’s good to know that there are so many options (including free ones) that I can look into for the future.
As I’ve got into the habit of renting these places out – through sheer necessity – I know exactly what kinds of people would also want to know that these kinds of getwaways are an option. They need to be made aware that they don’t always need to go on an expensive holiday or to a spa to get the same sensation. It’s just about exposing people to the benefits of it and all that it brings, so they might want to consider it and want to stay in one that I’ve made for them.
I’m really excited for my future and I can say without a doubt that it’s on my roadmap that I’m going to put together a plan for how I’m going to get an apartment that I can actually rent out and attract people to stay at for mini breaks and get some time away from hectic work schedules. I know there may be a few drawbacks, but I’m absolutely ready for the challenge.
