1. Vegan Chicken Wings

Vegan chicken wings are a perfect alternative to chicken wings. Here are the ingredients and complete recipe.

Ingredients

  • Tempeh – 240 g (1 package)
  • Avocado oil or olive oil – 1 tbsp.
  • Chinese five spice powder – 1 tbsp.

For Barbecue Sauce

  • Ketchup or hoisin sauce – 2 tbsp.
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp.
  • Sesame oil – ½ tbsp.
  • Chili sauce – 2 tbsp. (add more if you like spicy)
  • Honey – 2 tbsp.
  • Liquid smoke – ¼ tbsp.
  • Salt and black pepper – as per taste
  • Sesame seeds (toasted) – 1 tbsp (for garnishing)

Method

Take tempeh and cut them into a triangular shape. Prepare barbecue sauce by mixing all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Place a frying pan over high heat and add olive oil or avocado oil. While pan heats, take a large bowl, and place triangular tempeh, add five spices powder, and gently rub on the tempeh.

Next, add tempeh into the frying pan and sear until they’re thoroughly cooked. Take out tempeh and add them in a bowl of barbecue sauce. Mix until tempeh is wholly covered in barbecue sauce.

Again, heat the pan and add tempeh. Remember that your bowl will have remaining sauce, do not add the sauce into the pan, set sauce aside for later use.

Cooke tempeh for one more minute and add hot tempeh to that remaining barbecue sauce and mix. Garnish tempeh with toasted sesame seeds.

2. Cauliflower Hot Wings

If you’re a vegan, you’ll love cauliflower hot wings because they’re the delicious alternative of chicken wings.

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower – 1 head
  • All-purpose flour – 100 g
  • Soy or almond milk – 2 tbsp.
  • Garlic and paprika powder – 1 tbsp each.
  • Spicy BBQ sauce – 2 tbsp.
  • Panko breadcrumbs – 1 pack
  • Salt and pepper – as per taste
  • Chili sauce (optional) – 1 tbsp.

Method

Cut the cauliflower into small-sized florets. Next, take a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, garlic & paprika powder, spicy BBQ sauce, soy milk, salt & pepper, and mix well.

Take cauliflower florets and dip into the mixture until they’re entirely coated.

Take florets out and roll them in the panko breadcrumbs. If you’re using gluten-free breadcrumbs, then you can skip this step. However, they become crispier with panko breadcrumbs.

Place a baking sheet with parchment paper over a baking tray and lay florets on the baking sheet. Make sure to maintain distance between florets. Now, bake floret for 25-minutes at 350oF.

After 25-minutes, take out the floret and add them into a large bowl. Take a cup and mix BBQ sauce and chili sauce and pour the mixture over cauliflower wings. Mix and evenly coat all the sides with sauce.

Place wings on the baking sheet again and bake again for 20-minutes @ 350oF. Take out the wings garnish with green onions if you want.

3. Vegan Seitan Hot Wings

Try vegan seitan hot wings a perfect and spicy vegan alternative for chicken hot wings.

Ingredients

  • Seitan (cut into chunks) – 1 pound.
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Hot sauce – ¼ cup
  • Maple syrup – 3 tbsp.
  • Lime juice – ¼ cup
  • Salt – ½ tbsp or as per taste

Method

Take seitan and cut it into chunks, you can cut them into finger shape as well. Next, place a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add seitan and sauté until they turn light brown and keep stirring frequently.

Reduce the flame to medium-low and add all the other ingredients such as hot sauce, maple, syrup, salt, and lime juice. Stir and mix well.

Next, reduce the heat to low and let the seitan & sauce to simmer for another 5 minutes. Keep stirring to make sure that seitan chunks are well-coated with the sauce.

Remove the pan from the heat and take out the seitan hot wings.
